Finally on the mend

After about two weeks of Elsie being under the weather with RSV (so says the doctor) she is finally getting better.  Two weeks of crying every time I laid her down.  Two weeks of coughing so hard that it lead to throwing up.  Two weeks of rocking her to sleep.  Two weeks of her waking up prematurely from every nap.

She is just about back to her old self.  It's nice to see her sweet smile and hear her giggle.  And its nice that she will go to sleep on her own without a tear.  Of course I say all this knowing that once you blog about something, the opposite happens.  :)

Here are some pictures from this morning.  We missed a fun play date today because Elsie was finally taking a great nap.  So instead we played outside in the sun and enjoyed a relaxing morning together.  First picture is of a project Jenna and I did.

After we planted her flowers, she checked 6 times to see if they had grown yet.
It's going to be a long 7 days waiting for a little sprout!

All the pictures of Jenna on the 'rocket ship' always turn out funny because she is constantly singing while swinging.  This was the only one where her mouth wasn't open.

And here's Elsie swinging.  She will be in here a lot this summer,
and she is loving it more and more.

This afternoon we are off to the park for more outdoor fun!
Hope everyone is enjoying their day!

Elsie tried her first bites of cereal tonight!

She liked it.

Happy Birthday Jackson

Happy Birthday Jackson.
You are such a great kid, full of love and hugs and passion and spunk.
You are so much fun to be around, and you are one of Jenna's best friends.
 We love you buddy.
Okie, Ming,
Jennabell and Elsieroo

I was looking for pictures to show what good friends these two are,
and I just have to share!!
So, here is a little tour of their friendship over the years.
Jackson is one year older than Jenna.

Four Months

Elsie had her four month check up today and here are her stats:
18 lbs 6 oz        26 inches
She is above the 97th percentile in both height and weight.
She is our happy, chubby, sweetie pie baby girl.
(Jenna was 16 lbs 7 oz and 26 3/4 inches)

By the way, if Elsie could talk I think this is what she would say,
"Mom, who keeps pulling my bink out of my mouth!?  And who keeps pulling my hair!?"
You do sweet girl.  You do.

First flower

Spring is coming! We noticed our first flower this morning, and it made Jenna and I very cheerful. Just thought I would spread the cheer :)

Creative fun

Jenna was sick last week, and now it's Elsie's turn.  We have been stuck at home A LOT lately which is fine but a little exhausting.  Here's what we did today...

We made 'binoculars' out of two toilet paper things glued together, some paint, and lots of glitter (everything looks pretty with glitter, even cardboard.)
Then Jenna painted a 'monster'.  She did the painting and then added googley-eyes.  You can buy a pack of them for under a buck at Walmart.

And I promise she is sick.
She has cried more in the last two days than in her entire life.
But she also can manage a smile every once in a while.

This is what happens when my hubby works on a Saturday... multiple blogs :) We played out in the sun this morning, and Elsie had her first swinging experience! Thank to Craig's list, we have a fun way for Elsie to be outside this spring and summer. She didn't really know what to think about it, but I did catch one smile. I'm sure it will grow on her. Jenna loved it.

Okay, and now for a question... What generation is this outfit from!?
She was even smacking bubblegum for this picture.

Friday pictures

I was again motivated to capture some good pictures of Elsie on Friday. Elsie is very smiley but as soon as the camera comes out, this is the face I get..

But by doing all kinds of silly faces and sounds that I would never do in public,
I got a few good ones...

My mom bought Jenna some jewelry and she LOVED it.  All day long she wore these very dangly earrings.  She loved it.  It was quite a site.

Valentine's Day fun

Today Jenna and I had lots of fun celebrating Valentine's Day with art projects and cookies. Eric and I get to celebrate together on Saturday (thanks mom and dad!) so today was for Jenna. Her and I talked about who she loves and what we can do to make people feel loved. It was fun. Here are some pictures...

The pictures for this project came from old Christmas cards, so don't be offended if your kid didn't make the collage.  Just send us a Christmas card next year!  :)

Sugar cookies (from scratch).  Be impressed.
It's sad for me to make cookies since I don't get to eat them, but oh well.
And then she did the dishes to clean up the mess.  What a mess it was!
Fun day.

In the morning we made it to Mom to Mom (late, but hey we made it).  As always I was so encouraged and spurred on by the speaker.  I want to say thanks to Ginger, Becky and Peri and all the planning team who go to the trouble to make it happen.

Okay so I went a little overboard this Valentine's day, but oh well. It made for a very fun day. Here was our dinner, notice the heart shaped pancake...

I was rather determined today to take a picture of Elsie in the same dress Jenna wore in this photo.   Jenna was 4 months old here, and it was July.

Elsie is just about 4 months, but it is February...burr!  Anyways, I had a lot more time to take pictures back when I only had one kid. But since I was determined, I set all other priorities aside (ie house work, eating lunch, etc) and went for it. Here is what came about...

Pretty cute, and totally our Elsie-roo.  Thumb in mouth, and cubby little arms.

In these next two pictures, you can really tell some of the similarities and differences of the girls.  First picture is Jenna, second is Elsie.

With the sun shining in through the window, it almost looks like summer time!
My goodness I love these girls so much!

Three events and three quotes

1.  I cheese graded the back of my finger yesterday.  Seriously, don't try it.

2.  Quote from Jenna when dealing with her toy cash register,
"That cost-es liiiike... 3 inches."
3.  I didn't get a shower in until after the kids when down for a nap yesterday.  Only to be baptized by Elsie spit-up down my shirt 20 minutes post shower.  Thanks.
4.  Quote from Jenna when asked if she wants a banana for snack,
"No, I had a banana last year."
5.  Jenna hears, "Why don't you play by yourself for a little while" all the time, though she rarely does it.  Yesterday we started calling it FREE TIME!!! (we use that much emphasis when we say it) and we actually had some success in that department!
6.  Third quote from Jenna,
"Jackson is my husband, and I am his wife"

Kids are great.

Daddy time

Jenna looks forward to wrestling and playing rough with daddy every day.
The other day, Elsie joined in on the fun!

Does anyone else go through the week thinking, 'I should blog that' over and over again but never actually go through with it? Here are the things I thought about blogging but didn't quite get to...

1. Going off Faith's recipe of the week, I thought it would be fun to blog a weekly money saving tip. Anything from food to household supplies. I would focus more on food because I'm currently trying to find more ways to cook healthy meals without spending a ton. I get a bit of a thrill out of stretching the dollar as far as possible!

2. I have been talking to a fellow arthritis friend who has found a lot of success and relief from pain by eating all raw food and taking a supplement for her joints. I am contemplating it, but wouldn't go too extreme. If I did something like that, I wouldn't stop my drugs. I actually have a lot to say about this one so I better stop now or it will become an entire blog entry.

3. I added a new link under my resources category that has been a lot of fun to explore. It's called 'girl talk' and worth checking out. Lots of thought provoking stuff, and at least one yummy recipe that I baked today!

There were more, but I can't remember. Oh well :)

Pat-a-cake Elsie

Okay, the laughing is just so cute. I'm sure you won't enjoy it quite as much as I do, but hopefully it will make you smile! Oh, I guess the grandparents out there WILL enjoy it as much as I do :)

Just some pics

Elsie's hair is starting to make me is reminding me of Jenna's at this age - wild!  Oh well, that just means some cute up-dos.  Here is her first one...

Look at those chubby little arms!  Healthy baby :)

Jenna and Elsie played their first 'game' yesterday.  It's called "kickin' my chin", Jenna made it up.  She would lay with her face by Elsie's feet and LAUGH every time Elsie kicked her in the chin.  They both thought it was great :)
