Jenna and Emily!

Our dear friends Chris, Bronwyn and Emily came over this last weekend. We met them when we all lived in California, and now we all live in Oregon! It was such a fun time. Emily and Jenna are only three weeks apart in age. They played with Elmo, with the kitchen, read a book and played outside! Here are some pictures of the girls.

It was a great afternoon!

Little Friends...

It is so fun to watch little kids as they learn to play together. Last night Dan and Ang came over with their two boys. Jake is about 8 months older than Jenna, and Ty is exactly one year younger. Jake and Jenna play together pretty well! Here are some pictures:

Legos. Noisy to play with right now because the
fun is in the dump out and the clean-up.

They were coming right for me!
They both wanted to touch the camera! Ahhh!

Don't ask why Jake doesn't have pants on.

A quick hug and even a little smooch
ended the evening with our dear friends.

These are just some of the precious pictures that will be in their wedding slide show someday. Just kidding, just kidding.

Afternoon at the park

We walked to the park yesterday and had lots of fun on the swings and with the ducks. Jenna loved to walk all the way over to the duck pond just to look at me and say, "Swing?" So we would walk all the way back. Here are a few more pics...

About 20 minutes ago, I put Jenna down for her morning nap. And as is her custom lately, she talks to her kitty and her blankies and anything else who might find her interesting for about 45 minutes before she finally exhausts herself and goes to sleep. Its so cute to listen to. Right now she is hollering, "Mingy, whe-are you?" over and over again. She does call me mommy, but she hears me called "mingy" constantly by her sweet cousins.

Ah, Davis and Jackson. I have the privilege of watching my sweet nephews two times a week and I love it (some days more than others, but overall, I truly love it).

It is so interesting though...I am learning how to raise a 2 1/2 year old and a 5 year old a little earlier than expected! I am not just their babysitter. Since I have them 10-12 hours a week, I do my best to keep things consistent with their home-life. I avoid spanking at all costs, but I give Jackson time-outs and sometimes Davis and I have to sit down and have a 'talk' about this or that. I often look back and say, "boy I hope they forget I said that." I just have to remember to pray for wisdom each day.

Another interesting thing is that Jenna is being raised like a first born, but also like the baby of the family. I guess that will change once my sister has her third boy (who by the way is due on my birthday)! So, it is all very interesting.

One quick cousin story (there are so many, I need to write them all down!)...Yesterday I was about to put Jackson down for a nap and so he came over to Jenna and gave her a big hug and a kiss. "Nigh Night Jenna." Jenna's response, "Thank you Jackson...nigh night!" It was super precious. I put Jackson to bed in the playroom and he was quiet. Little did I know that he was very quietly playing with all the toys in there! About an hour into his 'nap' I walked by the room and heard some noise. I looked in the room and he was on the ground playing. I told him to get in bed and gave him a few minutes to think things over. When I returned he was in bed, but was laying on two toys and had a few others in bed with him. He looked at me with those big innocent eyes and didn't say a word. I took all the toys away, kissed him goodnight and didn't hear another peep. Aren't kids great!

A girls weekend!

Ang and I went to visit our dear friend Holly in Seattle for the weekend. It was such a great time! Ang and I talked (uninterrupted by kids) the ENTIRE way there and the ENTIRE way home. You would think that in six hours we would run out of things to talk about, but nope. It was great!

I love Seattle. It is such a beautiful place to visit. While there for this visit we went to Pike's place, went to a bbq right on Lake Washington, went to my friend Becka's church, and did a ton of reminiscing. One crazy thing was that our hotel lost our reservation - and they had no vacancy - so at 10:30 pm Ang and I ventured out to find some shelter. EVERYTHING was full! Why you ask? Well, there was a Hemp Fest this weekend. Welcome to Seattle! Finally at 1am, after almost staying at a motel that reminded me of My Name is Earl, we snuggled into a CLEAN bed about 10 miles North of where we were expecting to be. Memories :)

It was so fun to see Holly. There are so many dear friends from my past that I wish I could spend more time with. But I have come to accept that different seasons of life bring different friendships. All hold a special place in my heart.

And of course, it was so good to come home to this smiling face...

Some pics...

Here is our most recent picture of Jenna. She stopped, looked at the camera and said, "cheese." Cute.

She fell asleep on me ther other day, which was so sweet because it just doesn't happen much anymore. I must enjoy these moments while I have them.

I'm new here...

Well, this is my third online outlet for pictures, thought and other non-sense like that. I can't believe I am even starting this, but I like the format. And everytime I start a new one, I find old friends or current friends that I didn't know had a blog or the like. So, here I am.

What are my thoughts? Who am I? Hmmm...
I am a learning person. I am continually learning that the world is much bigger than my world view allows. I am learning that life is really important - not who we know or what we have, but Who we know, and What we will inherit in the Heavenly Kingdom. I am learning that I must share this message. There is more to life than this short time we spend on earth. Let's invest more in forever than in the vapor we are in right now.

I can't believe that I am married with a child, dealing with grown-up matters. Sometimes I feel like I just graduated from high school, or that I should be in my care free college days. But then I look around and thank the Lord that I am not there. I am here. Exactly where God has placed me, with an incredible husband and beautiful little girl. Ahhh. I like it here.

I guess that is all for now. I don't know if I will ever post again. We will see how well this blog stuff goes for me. For all who read this, please comment so that I know you are out there.
