Randomness galore...

1. I took my car in for an oil change at Walmart today and they called me back during the service. " Mrs. Wood, you need to see this" they said. Turns out a rodent has made a home in my car engine! AHHHHHHHHHHH! The whole way home I was terrified that the rodent was going to run over my feet while I was driving. I don't know what to do, but I have two cats that need to get their act together!!

2. A household tip I recently started using... fold your sheet set and then place it all nicely in that set's pillow case! Then when you go to change the sheets, you grab the bundle and go! Keeps things very nice and organized in the linen closet!

3. For next Easter... Put your hard boiled eggs inside a whisk and then let your kids dip them in the dye! No more eggs falling off of those awkward little egg holders, and no more orange and purple dyed hands from kids dropping eggs in and diving in after them!

4. A quote C.J. Mahaney to share from his book "A Cross Centered Life" when speaking about why he teaching his 9 year old about the wrath of God...
"Only when we understand God's wrath toward sin can
we realize that we need to be saved from it. Only when
we hear the very bad news that we're deserving of
judgment can we appreciate the very good news that
God has provided salvation through His Son."

5. I may just sell our car. Seriously, this is disturbing me! Anyone in the market for a '99 Toyota? Comes with a friend for free!

Who needs money!

Yesterday in the car, Elsie and Jenna had a very sweet conversation about money. Here's how it went...

Elsie: I want to see DADDY!
Jenna: Daddy's at work Elsie.
Elsie: NO! I want to see DADDY (crying now)
Jenna: Daddy has to go to work to make money for us Elsie. Don't you like money?
Elsie: Yes, I like money (she really likes money for some reason - that is what she wished for at Snow White's wishing well at Disneyland.)
Jenna: Well, that's why daddy has to work.
Elsie: (after a pause) I don't want any money.

She loves her daddy :)

The rides

We rode a lot of rides all week. The weekday mornings were empty in the park so the lines were short which was so awesome! Here are some ride pictures...

Dumbo
Teacups (we got dizzzzzzy! But the kids didn't:)
The Rockets - they are faster than I remember!
Peter Pan - this was their first ride in D-land. Magical!
Carousal - they just watched Mary Poppins last week for the first time so they were both excited about this one!
Gadegt's gocoaster - first roller coaster
Storybook land - one of my favorites
Bumper bugs - slowest bumper cars ever
Spinning lady bugs - super fast!
Casey Jr. train in the monkey cage
The girls rode lots of other rides, and loved all of them. Well, most of them. We have video of Jenna on Splash Mountain that shows how very much she did NOT enjoy it. We all got DRENCHED and after the first small drop she was regretting her decision to ride. But we made it through - we kinda had to once the ride started! Their very favorite was Small World :)

Who they met

Warning, warning, millions of pictures coming! This post is dedicated to who the girls met. As the days went on, the girls became more and more comfortable with the characters, which made for some hilarious and very memorable moments! We got a lot on video, and tons of pictures of their interactions with the characters. Meeting the characters was one of their favorite parts of Disneyland.
Meeting Donald...
Dale
Cindrella
Snow White
Belle
Pluto
Sorcerer Mickey
Steamboat Mickey
Minnie
Ariel
Minnie again
Goofy
Pluto again (Jenna hugged him for a long time!)
Silly Goof again
Pluto again
Winnie the Pooh
Peek-a-boo with Tigger
Tigger

Whew! That's a lot of pictures! The girls always talked to the characters, gave them hugs, high fives, and by the end Elsie was initiating games of peek-a-boo and twirling for the princesses. It was very special :)

Home

Well, we are home from Disneyland. Currently the kids are playing outside happily, the third load of laundry is in the wash, and so I wanted to take a moment to record a few memories. First of all, this was a fantastic vacation. We all had such a great time. I feel so blessed by all my family. We enjoyed our time together and wish it would have never ended. We laughed and made memories and all five days in the parks.

Coming home has been pretty sweet. The kids are acting as though they haven't seen their toys in months. They are playing together as though they are best friends reunited at last. It is a blessing to my ears and eyes. When Jenna walked into her room she said, "Elsie!! We have BUNK BEDS!" and Elsie came running in squealing in excitement. Yes, these are the same beds they have had for 5 months now. They played on them as though they were brand new. Later in the evening they were playing pretending they were both mommies with new babies and Elsie said, "I have a new baby too!" and Jenna said, "I didn't know that! Have you blogged about it yet?" HA! Anyways, I just wanted to blog about this so that I could look back and remember how much the kids love to be home. It means a lot to me that our family enjoys vacation but also loves each other and coming home...

Hold that thought. There are two screaming children outside, one pushed the other off the slide, that I need to take care of. They are happy at home with each other, but they aren't perfect :) More posts coming soon!

Black Butte 2010

For our 7th anniversary, Eric and I took the family on a fun vacation to Black Butte for a few days. It was so wonderful to be together, to stay in a beautiful home, to play in the snow, to swim, to watch movies, to read books, to relax, do a puzzle, and to enjoy one another. We felt so blessed to have the opportunity to do this together. Here are a few pictures from playing in the snow...

Elsie's round cheeks looked so cute in that hat... and she was wobbling around with all the layers we put on her!

Jenna wanted more than anything to have a snowball fight with Daddy. And so they did! Look at that mischievous look on her sweet face!

Sledding was a BLAST! We all took tons of turns down the slope. At one point we all four crowded onto one sled and mastered the hill! It was very funny.

And who needs to go out to a fancy dinner when you can spend a couple extra bucks at the grocery store and eat this fancy feast! Yummy! (Ok, going out it still really fun, but this was a very fun and special dinner.)
It was a WONDERFUL weekend.

Easter crafts

Here are a few simple Easter crafts we have done this week. Decorating giant construction paper eggs, cotton ball bunnies, and empty tombs. Nothing fancy, but it was fun. Today we did the empty tombs with sweet friends of Jenna's and it was a fun way to make the lesson come to life. Happy Good Friday!
