Everyday Life

Here is a little video I put together the other day. I recently noticed how little video we have of Elsie, so this focuses on her a little bit.

Thankful

For God's blessing, God's timing, God's provision. Here's one of the many ways God is blessing us right now - a continuing bountiful harvest.

Max

This is the first born son of Eric's best friend from High School. He was born at 26 1/2 weeks gestation. Word spread fast that this little baby was on the way and people started praying. God has shown his healing power in little Max's body over and over again. Max came out screaming - breathing on his own with fully developed lungs! He has been able to take in some of his mom's milk. He is thriving for a premature baby. But of course he still has a long road ahead. We are all continuing to pray for this little new life. If you think of him, pray too!

This tall

I found this on the wall. Apparently Jenna wanted to record her height at age 4 1/2. And Elsie doodled a little on the wall in crayon below Jenna's mark.

Last days of summer

The end of summer is very sad to me. I love fall time and winter too, but the transition away from summer is rough on my heart. ANYWAYS, we are doing our best to really enjoy the last days of summer. Lots of days at the park, frisbee and soccer at the field next to our house, and some fun in the water. Here are the girls a few days ago. They made a water slide, and also played in the mud.

And here are two pretty pictures of Jenna. She looks older than a 4 1/2 year old to me. She is growing up so fast and becoming such a beautiful (inside and out) little lady.

Quote of the day...

Jenna said, "There are quite a few vowels, and lots of consequences."

(I think she meant consonants.)

Every day is a new adventure

She found the dry erase markers a couple days ago and had a ball, coloring all over her arm. Then yesterday she found a couple pens that were in Jenna's desk and drew all over the rocking chair. Then this morning, she found them again in a place that not even Jenna can get in to (I thought they were safe) and drew all over her hand. Now I know that the safest place to store pens in our house is in NOT AT OUR HOUSE!

Preserving Tomatoes

In case anyone out there wants to know how to freeze tomatoes, here is a quick step by step...

1. Bring water to a boil, put in tomatoes (I've only tried this with Roma)
2. Boil for about 30 seconds or maybe a minute, then scoop them out and place them in the cold water bath.
3. Where the stem was, make a little X cut (or just stab the top a little with your fingernail) and then start pushing the tomato out of it's skin
5. Plop, it just pops right out! Dispose of skins.
7. Dice tomatoes, put them in storage baggies or old tupperware sour cream containers.
8. Freeze! Use your bag of diced tomatoes as a substitute this winter when recipes call for canned tomato. Great in chili or taco soup, etc etc!!

This week has been busy as we have been babysitting my nephews all week long. And I forget my camera every time! Not that I have much time to whip out a camera with those 6 active kids! But they sure do some camera worthy things! Maybe I will remember tomorrow. But here two pictures from our evenings at home...

Elsie found these, and of course needed them on. Always have to be prepared! There might be a pool to jump in, you just never know.
