1 out of 3 is not good

Jenna has slept only one out of the past three days for nap time.  I am not ready to lose my excellent nap-girl!!!

Ugh! That's a bummer. Colbs gave his up right at his 3rd birthday. He sleeps 10-11 hours a day total, and has for a long time. Not enough in my opinion. But he was taking like 2 to 3 hour naps and not going to sleep until 10ish, then he would wake up soooo early. 5:30, 6,.... Now in bed at eight, up at 7. Better for me. Hard during the day though. Especially because Tay is doing like 3 hour naps. The break would be nice. Whew long post. Sorry, just wanted to let you know there is hope:) I'm praying Colby falls into a better schedule this fall and maybe does a little rest during the day and still to bed early. Keep us posted!!! Don't give up the naps Jenna, they are so good for everyone in the house!

could it be that your night routine is working TOO WELL? Is she going to sleep earlier and calming down sooner and it is giving her adequate sleep at night now so that nap is less needed? What an unexpected bi-product!!

If so, the good news is that she will likely not give up naps cold turkey. She will still need a nap 2-3 times a week for a while. So maybe you keep the quiet time, with a timer or a long CD (when it ends, she is free to get up - or something like that) so that on the days when she really needs the nap she will expect to have to have a quiet time and not fight you on that. And she would be likely to fall asleep if she really needed it... at least that is the theory!!

Ah, Julia did the same thing when she was Jenna's age. It is so hard to lose that solid block in the afternoon! I do make her take a quiet time in the afternoon though. If she doesn't rest quietly on her bed and read books (while her brother sleeps in the same room), sometimes I have her color and listen to music in my room with the door shut so she'd rest, and I get a rest myself. They are growing so fast!

"Rest" time at our house (hour to an hour and a half) is pretty much like nap time, just a smidge shorter. Don't worry, you don't have to lose that time altogether. That transition can be a little rough, though. :) I'll mourn the loss of good solid nap with you.

Emi hasn't napped since January- before her 3rd birthday!!! But, she still stays in her room for quiet time while Addie is napping in her room. I actually love that she's not napping anymore. There's a lot more freedom and I get some time to do some special things just with her after her quiet time. She was one that just refused to nap and it was such a freeing feeling for me to just accept it rather than fight it. She still sleeps around 11 -12 hours at night.
You might find it freeing and kind of fun to have her doing quiet time- it can be anywhere and anytime.
